Francis X. McHugh Jr. (“Frank”), age 86, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, at Christiana Hospital. Frank was born on March 11, 1938, to Frank X. Sr. and Mildred (Walker) McHugh on Gilpin Avenue in The Forty Acres.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Dorothy (“Dottie”), with whom he shared 59 years of marriage until her passing on January 21, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jeannie Bell (Bill), Janet Patterson (George), Joanne Knox (Bill), Mary Farrall, and his grandson, Shane McHugh.
Frank was a retired electrician and a proud 65-year member of the IBEW Local Union #313, following in his father’s footsteps. Together, they shared over 120 years of combined membership in the union. Frank was also a longstanding and dedicated member of the Mill Creek Fire Company, where he served his community in various roles, including Vice President and President.
Frank is survived by his daughters, Sharon Kay, Teresa Lynn (Jim), and Cassandra Ann (Dino); four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Judith McHugh; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Farrall; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his family.
As per Frank’s wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held alongside his beloved wife, Dottie, for family and friends at All Saints Cemetery on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
