In the heart of our community stands the Mill Creek Fire Company, a pillar of strength and safety. Our brave volunteers are the first to respond when emergencies arise, rushing towards danger to protect our homes, loved ones, and land. Their dedication knows no bounds, but maintaining this high level of service requires resources.

For the last 99 years, Mill Creek has provided fire protection to our community without charging a penny. Lately, the costs to provide these services are skyrocketing; fire trucks and personal protective equipment, tools, and training all cost substantially more than they did just a few years ago. For example, in 2026, a full set of firefighter structural turnout gear (coat and pants) generally costs between $3,000 and $5,000+ per firefighter. The prices are rising due to increased manufacturing costs, with high-performance Nomex/Kevlar black bunker gear often exceeding $1,800–$2,500 per individual piece. In addition, a lack of volunteers has required us to hire paid firefighters to ensure full-time fire protection coverage for our community.
On the ambulance side, while we bill for the emergency medical services we provide, we do so at a loss each year. The cost to provide these services has increased beyond the amount we receive from Medicare and insurance carriers. Every ambulance you see from Mill Creek is staffed by a dedicated crew of paid and highly trained emergency medical technicians. In 2006, we responded to 2,848 medical emergencies. By 2025, that number increased to 7,247 medical emergencies, an increase of more than 4,000 calls over the last 19 years. To keep up with the increasing call volume, we have had to hire more personnel to staff more ambulances.

Each year, Mill Creek Fire Company sends a fund drive letter to our neighbors, asking for your support. We only request donations by mail and never call your home. If you are making an electronic donation as part of our annual fund drive, please enter your account number (found on the back of the return envelope sent to you) in the special instructions field on the payment form.
