February 5, 2012 – A person was trapped in his overturned car for about 20 minutes while rescue crews from Mill Creek Fire Company and Cranston Heights Fire Company work to free him. The collision occurred on Kirkwood Highway just east of Limestone Road at approximately 8:53 AM. A passenger in vehicle was able to free herself.

While rescue crews handled the extrication an EMT was able to climb into the overturned vehicle to help stablize and comfort the elderly driver. Both patients were transported to the hospital. The inidividuals from the other vehicle refused medical treatement.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
