On July 2, 2011 at 23:11 hours MCFC was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with a person trapped in a vehicle on fire on Capitol Trail (Rt. 2) in the area of Meadowood. Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder were also dispatched to assist due to the severity of the dispatch. The crash occurred within sight of a nearby restaurant. Staff and patrons rushed to the crash with fire extinguishers and were able control the fire prior to fire apparatus arriving on the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found one person trapped in a sedan with a pickup truck on its side approximately 150’ down the road. Firefighters extricated the patient after removing the roof and doors of the car. Three people were transported to the Christiana Hospital. Capitol Trail was closed in both directions for approximately one hour. Mill Creek Fire Company was also assisted by Cranston Heights Fire Company, Delaware City Fire Company ambulance and New Castle County Paramedics.
