The Seagrave Commander II Squrt Pumper – S-21 was a versatile and powerful firefighting apparatus designed for both suppression and aerial tasks. Powered by a Detroit Diesel 8V-92TA 450 hp engine, this unit provided the strength needed for demanding fireground operations. One of its standout features was the Snorkel Squrt 54 ft articulating boom, equipped with a 1000 gpm monitor, allowing it to deliver water from elevated positions and access hard-to-reach areas.
With a Waterous 2000 gpm mid-ship pump and a 650-gallon water tank, S-21 could deliver substantial firefighting power. The unit also carried 1200 ft of 4″ supply hose and 48 ft of ground ladders, ensuring it was prepared for a wide range of firefighting scenarios.
The Onan 6kw diesel generator provided power for extended operations, while seating for six crew members ensured that the team could arrive fully equipped and ready to act. Though retired from active duty, the Seagrave Commander II Squrt Pumper remains a significant part of the department’s history, having served reliably in numerous challenging incidents.
