Heavy Rescue

Seagrave/Ranger – 21-6, Rescue 21

Unit Specifications:

The Seagrave/Ranger – 21-6, Rescue 21 was a heavy rescue unit that served the department from 1985 to 2000. Powered by a reliable 8v71 Detroit Diesel engine paired with an HT 740 Allison Transmission, this vehicle was built for strength and durability. With a 200-gallon tank and a two-stage Waterous pressure/high pressure pump, it was capable of providing both fire suppression and rescue capabilities.

This heavy rescue was equipped with a 12kw Onan generator for powering essential tools during prolonged operations. It also featured a Deutz Diesel Bauer Compressor and two powerful winches—a 20,000 lb. front-mounted winch and a 10,000 lb. rear-mounted winch—making it invaluable for complex rescue scenarios, including vehicle extrications and heavy recovery tasks.

Though retired after 15 years of dedicated service, Rescue 21 is remembered for its versatility and rugged performance in some of the most challenging rescue and firefighting missions during its time in service.
