February 3, 2025 – Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash (MVC) at 8:20 PM in the 2900 block of Newport Gap Pike near Hyde Park. The initial report indicating a patent was unconscious. New Castle County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police helicopter were also dispatched to the scene.

Units arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle crash and a utility pole severely damaged. One person was transported by Mill Creek Fire Company ambulance to the Christiana Hospital Emergency room. Delmarva Power and Light were notified for a Priority 2 response. North and southbound traffic on Newport Gap Pike was shut down in the area of the crash until 9:43 PM. DELDOT was also notified to assist with traffic control.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 8:50 PM. The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
