November 15, 2023 – The Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched at 3:19 AM to the Kirkwood Square Shopping Center for a structure fire.  The strip shopping center is located just off Kirkwood Highway near Delaware Park Blvd.   Firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, Christiana, Cranston Heights, Elsmere, and Five Points Fire Companies were also on the original dispatch.  The New Castle County paramedics also responded to the fire scene.

Firefighters arrived on the scene with smoke coming from the building and the source of the fire quickly located in a retail store in the middle of the center.   The interior of the store was heavily damaged. 

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.  There were no injuries reported and firefighters cleared the scene at 4:55 AM.
