Working House Fire with Smoke Showing

April 4, 2025 – At 9:15 PM Mill Creek Fire Company and mutual aid companies were notified of a residential structure fire in the 200 block of Catalina Drive, Harmony Woods.  Initial reports indicated an active fire in the basement of the structure.  Units arrived on scene within minutes of the original dispatch reporting smoke showing from the single-story home.

Firefighters made a quick attack on a basement fire but the home suffered heavy smoke and heat damage.   Approximately 30 firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, Christiana, Cranston Heights, Elsmere, Minquas assisted at the scene.   New Castle County Paramedics responded along with BLS units from Christiana and Mill Creek.  No injuries were reported.   The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.   Occupants of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The scene was placed under control at 10:00 PM and units cleared the scene at 11:00 PM.
