A split-level house with gray siding is emitting thick black smoke from an upper window and the front door. A fire hose is connected to a yellow fire hydrant on the lawn in front of the house. No visible flames, but the smoke suggests an active fire inside.

Residential Structure Fire

August 4, 2024 – At 9:56 AM Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1700 block of Limestone Road in the Rolling Hills community. Firefighters arrived on the scene within two minutes and found smoke pouring from the structure. Firefighters from Cranston Heights, Christiana, Elsmere, Five Points, Hockessin and Minquas Fire Companies also responded. New Castle County Paramedics were also on the scene.

Firefighters rescued one person from the structure and EMT’s and paramedics immediately started life support measures but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

All north and south bound traffic on Limestone Road (Rt 7) was shut down around the fire scene. Delaware State Fire Police and DELDOT assisted with traffic control.

Mill Creek Command placed the fire under control at 10:29 AM. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the fire. No firefighter injuries were reported.
