Robert Conly Sr

Born in Wilmington, DE, to the late David and Sadie Conly, Robert was a 1945 graduate of H.C. Conrad High School and Lafayette College. He was a proud World War II Army veteran, serving in Germany and France. After the war, Robert retired from Diamond State Telephone and went on to own and operate Parklynn Hardware Store, later becoming a locksmith. He was also a devoted member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his sons, Robert D. Conly and Gary J. Conly. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan F. Conly; his daughter, Bonnie Lee Conly; his grandchildren, Jeff, Kristen, Kelly, Drew, Casey, Daniel, Jessica, and Molly; and his great-grandchildren, Kieran, Kaylie, Kendall, Adelaide, and Emery.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Bayada Hospice and his caregiver, Jess, for the excellent care they provided to Robert in his final days.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to [charity name to be included].
