The GMC Panel Truck – 21-6 was a unique vehicle designed by the Federal Civil Defense Department and served from 1959 to 1974. Outfitted with NAPCO four-wheel drive, this panel truck was built to handle rugged terrain and off-road conditions, making it an ideal choice for civil defense and emergency services.

Powered by a 270 cu in. L6 gasoline engine and equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, it provided reliable performance for both urban and rural responses. One of its standout features was the PTO-driven front-mounted winch, which allowed for vehicle recovery and clearing debris during emergency operations.

The GMC Panel Truck – 21-6 was a critical part of the department’s fleet during its years of service, providing support during emergencies, particularly in less accessible areas. Its robust design and reliable engineering helped ensure that the truck remained a valuable asset throughout its years in service.
