Just after 12:15 p.m. today, Rescue 21, along with mutual aid companies, responded to a reported residential structure fire with possible entrapment.

Rescue 21 made a rapid response and arrived first on the scene to find smoke showing from a second-floor apartment. As the first-arriving engine,
the crew established a water supply and deployed a handline to initiate an aggressive interior fire attack.

One occupant was safely assisted from the building, while another individual was evaluated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics
and local BLS personnel. Primary and secondary searches of the structure confirmed that no additional occupants were inside.

The incident was quickly brought under control, limiting further damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
