Around 2100 hours last evening, Ladder 21 was alerted to stand by at the Wawa on 2030 Limestone Road for police action, located at While staging, a fire was reported inside the building, upgrading the response to a structural box assignment. Deputy 2 reported a single-story food service facility with smoke showing, establishing the Mill Creek command. All units were staged at the time of their arrival due to a barricaded subject remaining within the structure.

Once the barricaded subject was taken into custody, fire suppression efforts began. Ladder 21 operated as the first due special service, while 21-8 managed operations on the interior. Crews located a fire in the front office and server room, which was extinguished with minimal extension. Searches of the building proved negative. The scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police and Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation.
