On Saturday morning at 11:21 AM Mill Creek Fire Company was alerted to a building fire at Red Clay Creek Apartments. They were assisted by Cranston Heights and Belvedere Fire Companies. Deputy Chief Joe Stewart arrived on the scene followed closely by Mill Creek’s apparatus and reported smoke conditions in the building. Residents were evacuated and fire crews proceeded down to the basement with a hose line where they encountered heavy smoke conditions that started to billow from the building. Although fire was at a extreme minimum a large amount of smoke needed to be cleared from the structure using positive pressure fans. Deputy Chief Joe Stewart declared the situation under control approximately 25 minutes later. There were no injuries and the Fire Marshall’s office is determining the cause of the fire.
